Background

Sea levels are rising, and climate change and global warming have accelerated this rise in recent decades. It is uncertain how this accelerated rise will progress in the future. In the long term, sea level rise could have major consequences for the quality of life and habitability of our country.

In the Sea Level Rise Knowledge Program, governments, businesses, knowledge institutions, and civil society organizations are investigating the potential consequences of sea level rise for our country. The program generates knowledge that allows us to make timely decisions about the protection and development of the Netherlands.

The final results will be available in 2026. The Interim Assessment was completed in 2023. This website summarizes the results of the Interim Assessment.
